Modern Maki-e Cranes Fountain Pen

The Maki-e technique, characterized by an Oriental natural varnish highlighted wth touches of gold and silver powder, was first devised in the Tempyo Era (710-794). Platinum celebrates this tradition with this Maki-e fountain pen, which employs the modern Maki-e method. The base design is screen printed over its black background, then individually hand-painted and hand-polished by a Maki-e artist. Featuring a design of two cranes flying below Mount Fuji, this fountain pen has an 18 carat gold nib and comes with a Platinum cartridge and a Platinum convertor.
